In the Graveyard, the first room you enter has Large Solid Chest at the end of the hall. You can go to the chest without aggroing any mobs, but to play safe, you can kill the first 2 mobs. They did, definitely.

I don’t remember exactly how it worked, but it would run the scan and then spit out the results into your chat window. Then you could scroll through the list, manually search for and buy things you thought could make a profit, then relist.
Paid for my druid’s Warden Staff, as well as epic riding for myself and a guildmate before I got sick of. Auctioneer took forever to scan, but it was like an ancient version of sniper. I remember it was super easy to make big flips on gear.

Yeah, this is what i did. Just keep questing through the end level zones, sell blue BOEs. Oh plus the fucking skettis dailies. I played Horde in very early vanilla WOW. As a tailor, I quickly learned they did not have a good spot to farm wool cloth easy. So, I figured out it could be done in the stockade in Stormwind. This is back before teleporting to dungeons, so it was a difficult trip.
So I spent time farming to fof a base supply. ALL I kept was the wool cloth. Then I bought what was on the auction house and posted what I had farmed and what I resold. It’s hilarious looking back on it. Anyhow, my downfall came when I had a real reedit. friend playing and I finally gave in and told him how I made gold. He had a eww. more free time than me, so he over farmed and crashed the market.
I still give him hell about this to this day! Anyhow, I was never super rich, but it paid for my fast mount and left me some spending gold. Woah, I totally forgot about things like. Horde would of had one hell of a time getting wool cloth. Talk about taking advantage, I guess the closest was Wailing Caverns?
Well, that was the thing, horde didn’t really have an equivalent dungeon. Their dungeons dropped either mostly linen, with some wool or mostly silk, with some wool. Stockades was mostly wool, with a small amount of linen. The best alteration spot I found was near the yeti cave in I can’t even remember the ,aking name lol.
